Route through the Saja Reserve (Santader)

Located in central-west Cantabria, the park occupies an area of 24,500 ha. It is almost in its totality open access mountains, with vast extensions of autochthonous woodland of great interest.

For this experience we hauled the horses to the beautiful village of Colsa, close to the Tojos municipality which is part of the Valley of Cabuerniga. This village is only 62 Km from the Santander airport or 100 Km from Bilbao´s.

We set camp in a beautiful stone rural house in the heart of nature. This becomes the center of our circular trails through the Saja Reservation, an area with a wide diversity of vegetation and animal life.

Depending on the duration of the route (minimum is two days) you can organize side visits to nearby Barcena Mayor which is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Spain (video) or Santander, the Cantabrian Capital.
